There is also a backup safety harness in place. It takes around 30 minutes to get to the bottom. However, those wanting to try out the descent will need to keep a couple of hours free.

This is the place to go for adrenaline junkies. It has Waitomo’s highest concentration of action-packed activities. People can abseil into waterfalls and spiderwalk across caves. This is not for the fainthearted and only people over 15 will be admitted.
Training and equipment are all provided on site. Tourists do not need to have prior experience. However, a reasonably good level of fitness is still recommended. The operator takes safety very seriously, and for this reason, there is a high visitor to instructor ratio.
